2021 Parliament of the World’s Religions

Hosted virtually for the first time, attendees will experience 48 hours of global interfaith programming hosted in Central US time, coinciding with the location of the Parliament headquarters in Chicago. Parliaments are known to connect local activism network leaders, religious leaders, as well as luminaries like Nobel Laureates. This year’s speakers include His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama; Karen Armstrong, OBE FRSL; Swami Sarvapriyananda; Grandmother Flordemayo; Bishop William E. Swing; Marianne Williamson; and Rabbi David Rosen.

Brian Zakem, a member of MnMN’s Network Council who is also active with Temple Israel of Minneapolis, Align Minneapolis, and Alliance for Sustainability, will attend and may be participating as a moderator. Rev. John Matthews (ELCA-ret.), a member of MnMN’s Minnesota Multifaith Speakers Network, along with Rev. Susan Strouse (an ELCA pastor from the San Francisco area), will present a session entitled, “The John 14:6 Project,” discussing the history and interpretation of John 14:6 and arguing that the writers of the Gospel of John, not Jesus, are responsible for the exclusivistic tone of that verse in the New Testament.
