Scott Chazdon

Scott Chazdon is a program evaluation consultant with over thirty years of experience in both qualitative and quantitative methodology and analysis and participatory evaluation strategies. For nearly seventeen years with University of Minnesota Extension, he led efforts to measure program outcomes and community-level impacts, developing a group participatory method for community impact evaluation known as Ripple Effects Mapping (REM). REM engages program and community stakeholders to retrospectively and visually map the chain of effects resulting from a program or complex collaboration. REM is particularly useful for complex initiatives because it provides an opportunity to engage key stakeholders in the evaluation process and typically re-energizes participants and stakeholders to continue their community development, organizing, or systems change work. Chazdon’s educational background includes a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Denver, a M.A. in sociocultural anthropology from the University of Florida, and a B.A. in urban studies from Macalester College.
